Downtown Tampa Elopement // C+D

Caitlyn and Dan reached out to me back in early February for their Downtown Tampa elopement, you know, when we were all still living our best lives and we didn’t even know it? Those were the days! They were planning on having a small ceremony at the Hillsborough County Courthouse in April with a few members of their family with photos to come after. Cue Covid-19! The Courthouse suspended all marriage ceremonies so just like most of the wedding world, we were in limbo waiting to see if and when things would open back up. Finally come May, Hillsborough County announced that they would be suspending all marriage ceremonies indefinitely, however they would still be issuing marriage licenses. Scene. Set. Commence this Downtown Tampa elopement!

Caitlyn and Dan decided to host a Zoom wedding for their family and friends who were originally suppose to fly down for their Hillsborough County Courthouse wedding ceremony but were no longer able to due to the circumstances. Here’s where I come in, instead of photographing their ceremony, we used our time together to adventure all over Tampa to grab the wedding portraits these two deserved. I’ve never had two hours to photograph wedding portraits, I’m lucky if I get thirty minutes during a wedding, so I was thrilled to have so much time with these two and multiple locations to work with. We started in Hyde Park Village and worked our way around Snow Circle where we stopped into The Hyppo for a much needed cool down. Caitlyn and Dan really know how to pose with popsicles, who knew they could be such great props!? Next on our list was Downtown Tampa where we stopped for photos in front of the iconic Le Méridien Hotel steps and then proceeded a little further down the street to the Tampa Mural. Our final stop was Armature Works where we added a little nature vibe into their photos and ended the evening on the water with a sunset and some sparklers. I mean, does it get any better than that? This Downtown Tampa elopement with Caitlyn and Dan was everything I hoped it would be and proves that even in the darkest times, love still wins!
