Engagement Session at Pass-a-Grille Beach // D+S

This engagement session at Pass-a-Grille beach was a rollercoaster of emotions but the ride paid off big time. Let me go back to the beginning and explain. Danielle and Scotty live in Chicago and wanted their engagement photos on the beach ideally during sunset. They booked their engagement session with me and then their flights down to Florida. The last piece of the puzzle was getting good weather on the day of our shoot. The day finally came and it had been storming for the majority of the afternoon. I’m not talking about some passing showers either, this was legit thunder, lightning, and heavy rain kinda storms. Danielle and I are anxiously refreshing the weather app hoping to predict the future with the changing forecast we’re receiving every 10 minutes. Finally we’re down to the wire to make this shoot happen. I feel like there’s enough of a break in the weather for about an hour and I say “Let’s do this, meet me at the beach!” As I’m driving over the bridge to St. Petersburg beach there is no skyline in sight, just a wall of rain. My heart sinks because when you’re in the storm it’s hard to imagine anything being outside of it. I keep driving and as I get closer to the beach the sky opens up and the sun peaks out! Hallelujah! We started our sessions on the rocks facing the water with the passing storm in the background still throwing out distant thunder and lightning. At this point we were just happy we we’re able to make the shoot happen and weren’t expecting a sunset at all. Spoiler alert, we ended up having the most epic sunset. We were all so blown away by the weather whiplash we couldn’t believe we just got the most beautiful sunset. Danielle and Scotty’s engagement session at Pass-a-Grille beach was definitely one for the books!
